loved it

We stayed in a Grande Villa Royale with pool. The Villa was amazing, the pool, the view, the terrasses, the external shower and the external bath. The overall hotel space is a huge rainwater forrest on the hill. The restaurants are nice but with hotel prices versus the external restaurants. We loved the restaurant with the relaxing beds and the movable tables with a direct view on the sea. the pools are beautifull with the waterfalls. I would recommend staying there.

the hotel location is a bit remote, which is perfect for family/resort centric type of holidays. If you want to go out, then plan accordingly to reach the more active parts of the island (night life, shops, restaurants).

Very Good

It is an exceptional place. We will go back, and we would recommend it. The buffet breakfast is amazing and has so many choices. The staff were some of the best we have experienced in all our travels. The bed is very comfortable, and the outdoor shower is wonderful.

We had an issue with a rat getting into our villa in the middle of the night. We understand that these things happen when you are staying on the edge of the jungle. But it was not pleasant to be woken up by. Having said that, we called customer services, and they immediately came to deal with it. Also, the next day, they followed up with a deep cleaning of our room.

Beautiful tranquil location, perfect to relax and unwind

Our stay felt like we were living in a rain forest. The rooms were beautiful, and there was a high level of tranquility. The well-equipped gym was an unexpected bonus. The pools were stunning.

The beds were very hard and the WiFi was too slow. We had to buy local SIM cards to remain connected. We tried the evening dinner once but the quality in the village nearby was much better so we preferred that for the subsequent nights.

We really liked the breakfast, huge variety of all kinds of food. Also vegan and vegetarian options. Great location, a bit outside, which means it’s quiet and in the middle of the jungle right at the beach. Lovely jungle sounds! We had a scooter, so we were flexible and could easily go to Panburi village, where you can find stores, 7-eleven and many great restaurants and bars. Highlight was Red Hot Chili peppers restaurant. The hotel area is quite big, but there are shuttles driving around. Nice and big gym and all you need to get a proper workout in. Huge pool right at the beach and also a nice and quiet pool on top of the gym. The staff is ABSOLUTELY amazing! Super nice!

The hotel is already a bit older and needs to be fixed here and there. Still very nice though. However, for us it’s a bit too big. But probably perfect for families with kids. Hotel charges for everything. Had other experiences on the island and we have been here a few times. One shampoo bottle broke: 360 THB. Also: we celebrated my wives birthday at KupuKupu and they decorated the room with balloons and flowers, she got a birthday cake - all for free. At Santhiya I think they offer the same for 3000 THB. Transport from Kupu Kupu to thong Sala for free. Transport from Kupu Kupu to Santhiya we paid 800 THB at Kupu Kupu. Santhiya wanted 1,500. Transport from Santhiya to Haad Rin was offered for 1,100 THB. We ended up booking at Aow Noi travel (great travel agency!) in the village for 600,- private transfer. TV didn’t work in the room and couldn’t get fixed during our stay. Not a big deal, but sometimes we just wanted to watch a movie at night before falling asleep.

There is not much you can do on the venue grounds, get bored quickly. Restaurants are way overpriced, better go to the small village and eat mamas kitchen.

The private pool, the bed and bedding. The staff very polite and helpful. Amazing view.

No comfortable seating in the pool villa, armchair would be good. Nothing interesting within walking distance and hotel offers no shuttle to closest village. Overpriced restaurant.

Great villa, lack of care of guests

The villas and hotel grounds are absolutely gorgeous. I love the traditional design and the jungle vibe, not to mention the pool and outdoor tub! Breakfast is pretty good- you can order what you feel like from quite a big selection of Thai and western foods, as welll as coffee, tea, juice etc. And the staff in the dining room are very attentive and lovely :)

There is currently construction ongoing next to the communal pool so get yourself a pool villa. Also, the gym and spa are closed. The place could be breathtaking but the reception/ service lets it down. I asked for a quiet room and they gave me a room on the main road with cars and motorbikes going past, a loud family next door and the cleaners room underneath. I had to complain several times and then outright demand a new room before they did anything about it. Check in took FOREVER and they still forgot to ask me to pay so I had to come back later and do it. I didn't try the food but I recommend going to the village adjacent-- there are loads of great places to eat, as well as a 7/11. Please avoid if you have mobility issues.

Very nice and pleasant stay in the beautiful resort with a wonderful pool.

It was very quiet and nice. The staff where very friendly and attentive. The rooms were nice and pool was fresh. Breakfast was very nice being able to order what we wanted fresh rather than the buffet.

Even during covid the staff gave us a wonderful experience at this beautiful hotel A few notes on some of the heroes we met; Akash provided us a smooth check-in even after we arrived super late Jeans (and the management team) ensured our stay was more comfortable than we could have imagined Pong made every morning meal a delight Karl helped my wife organise a romantic honeymoon dinner on the beach And Wynn made sure that meal was unforgettable (also - the kitchen folks - that meal was some of the best food we had on the island) Thanks so much and we will see you again soon

Magical. The hideaway pool villa was like the hobbit hole in the Shire but with a swimming pool and surrounded by jungle. LOTR meets Pirates of the Caribbean. Amazing carpentry and details in wood everywhere. Real craftmanship. Exposed to the elements, the wood could use a good streak of oil or varnish...

This time was a mixed bag, but at 3 for 4, Santhiya is still one of our top resorts!

Santhiya is one of our go-to resorts as far as privacy, cleanliness, and comfort are concerned. The staff was excellent as always; friendly and helpful. The food and service were great, as was the layout and general experience.

While we will always sing the praises of Santhiya to anyone who asks, this is the first time we have a slight criticism about one of their locations. The Phangan location is in desperate need of maintenance. We understand that this past year has hit many businesses hard, especially in the hospitality industry, however, while we can overlook it, for the most part, the fact that most of the resort is wood, created some safety issues on the elevated walkways that had rotten planks held together by rusted nails (I stepped through one, and after I raised concern, it was "fixed" by nailing the broken plank back in the same spot). Another issue, although this is more a tip for travelers, rather than anything the resort has control over, was the noise. We spent a week in a private villa, but only had about 3 nights of decent sleep due to the roaring of excessive amounts of cicadas, frogs, birds (specifically roosters and nesting trees) - Usually we sleep through jungles sounds with ease, but it just felt like there was way more activity than usual. It was deafening and got to the point where we had to go buy silicone earplugs, but even that didn't help. So, pro-tip if you go during this time of year (April), prepare some noise-canceling solutions, and go to bed early enough that being woken up in the early morning hours won't irritate you too much.
